{"id":8765,"date":"2024-05-05T00:52:23","date_gmt":"2024-05-05T00:52:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thedataartguy.com\/index.php\/product\/dna-of-death-visualization-of-the-cdcs-annual-report-on-all-deaths-in-america-2\/"},"modified":"2026-04-06T05:38:29","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T05:38:29","slug":"dna-of-death-visualization-of-the-cdcs-annual-report-on-all-deaths-in-america","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/thedataartguy.com\/index.php\/product\/dna-of-death-visualization-of-the-cdcs-annual-report-on-all-deaths-in-america\/","title":{"rendered":"DNA of Death: Visualization of the CDC\u2019s Annual Report on All Deaths in America"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #505050;font-family: Roboto, sans-serif;font-size: 16px\">This particular visualization stemmed from my questioning of the media&rsquo;s reporting, which seems to suggest that we are all one breath away from dying in a mass shooting, at the hands of police violence, or in the razor sharp grasp of a Great White shark.<\/span><span style=\"color: #505050;font-family: Roboto, sans-serif;font-size: 16px\">The CDC catalogued 2,626,418 deaths and I decided to break them down into three main categories: 1) Natural System Failure (blue\/purple tones) 2) Forced System Failure (pinkish tones) and 3) Media Hysteria (bright yellow).<\/span><span style=\"color: #505050;font-family: Roboto, sans-serif;font-size: 16px\">What immediately jumps off the page from this particular visualization of the way Americans die is that the media&rsquo;s hysteria is completely incommensurate with the actual data.
